Atheism

Atheism

What Is Atheism?
Atheism Is Simply: A lack of belief in the existence of God or Gods

It requires no other function, adherence, belief or acceptance then to meet that criteria.

Do not confuse this position, to that of:
A belief that God(s) [doesn't/dont] exist.

The difference in these two, though very minimal, is significant.

1. A lack of belief in the existence of God or Gods
2. A belief that God(s) [doesn't/don't] exist.

#1
IS NOT making a claim, those who hold that position, are just not convinced by the positive theistic claim of the existence of God(s); and as such hold no burdon of proof.
Example: I lack belief in the existence of Unicorns.

#2
IS making a claim, those who hold this position, propose that God(s) doesn't/don't exist and must provide evidence of such. [This is an abhorrent position to hold, as proving a negative is well beyond fairness, but those bold enough to make the assertion; must suffer the consequences.]

I currently hold position #1.

There may very well be [A deity/deities], but until presented with sufficient evidence, there is no reason to justify a belief in that claim, then there is for any other such claim.

This is my blurb:
Atheism is simply a lack of belief in the existence of a God or Gods - I have not been presented with credible, demonstrable, reliable and independently verifiable scientific evidence to justify a rational belief in the existence of a deity or deities -- Until such a time that evidence is presented, I withhold certainty, but default on agnostic atheism as we may never be able to account for all causal influences in the universe.
